My New-Day's Resolution

Posted by Aprille on Monday, January 4, 2010, In : Holidays
Just in case you were wondering, no, the title of this blog post is not a typo.

I thought it would be apropos to write a "first of the year" blog post. But, the truth is that when it comes to New Year's celebrations, resolutions, and excitement, I'm kind of a “scrooge”...(If you will allow me to steal a Christmas phrase and apply it to New Years.)

While I enjoyed staying up until midnight and getting my first New-Year's kiss EVER, once I crawled in bed dead tired I wondered why I had bo...

WIVES OF FAITH 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS BLOG CARNIVAL...DAY 13.

My Christmas wish to all my friends, family, and other military wives...
  • A wonderful Christmas
  • Fun and LOVING time with friends and family, with no conflicts
  • The most wonderful gifts you could imagine
  • That you would draw closer to your loved ones, that everyone would set aside difference, show forgiveness and learn to love each other in a new way
  • Safe travels and awesome traveling weather, but still enough snow for a "white Christmas"
  • That ...

What I Don't Take For Granted This Christmas

Posted by Aprille on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, In : Holidays
WIVES OF FAITH 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS BLOG CARNIVAL DAY 12.

1. The first thing I don't take for granted this year is God's amazing love...I know it may sound a bit trite, but God is showing me every day how much He loves me and cares for me, even when I don't feel worthy. It's so easy to feel like God can't show us love because we aren't perfect and disappoint Him so much, but the older I get the more I realized that God delights in giving us good and perfect gifts!

2. The second thing I don't t...

The Perfect Military SPOUSE Christmas Care Package

Posted by Aprille on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, In : Army Life
Well I don't know how to read I guess! So my last post was my *blonde moment of the day*...but I will keep it because it is a good post!

Now onto the REAL topic: "After all of the packages you’ve packed for your husband, wouldn’t it be nice if someone mailed you a care package? What would be in it? Today we’re asking you to write about your dream care package you would love to receive in the mail for yourself – no expense spared, but it has to fit in a flat rate box. (Sorry, you can’...

The Perfect Military Christmas Care Package

Posted by Aprille on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, In : Army Life

WIVES OF FAITH 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS BLOG CARNIVAL DAY 11.

I would have to say that the perfect care package for Christmas is one that is packed with the intention of bringing Christmas to the soldier, the way that he wants it. For some men that means mini trees and lights to put in their barracks rooms, or santa hats for all their platoon buddies.

For Russ, he just wanted another package filled with love. I sent him some goodies (Christmas cookies of course!) and snacks, as well as some gifts....

My Funniest Christmas Memory

Posted by Aprille on Thursday, December 17, 2009, In : Holidays
WIVES OF FAITH 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS BLOG CARNIVAL DAY SIX.

I will say that a few days ago I had no idea what I was going to write for this topic, but thankfully when you are married to a husband like mine, memories are always making themselves!!

I've had a lot of fun this Christmas season buying gifts and working on surprise projects for Russ. He has also had fun teasing me about his surprise gift. Being a one-income and very closely-involved-with-eachother household, this fun has had to be sh...

Thoughts about homecoming...

Posted by Aprille on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, In : Army Life
Today is April 1st...

When most people think of April 1st, they think of April fools. But my first thoughts of April 1st are that it is the first day of a new month, which means only 2-3 months til my husband comes home from Afghanistan!

Homecoming has got to be the most wonderful part of the deployment. I've been excited about homecoming since Russ left, but the excitement doubled when I hit January. Now that I'm only a few months away, I'm just about ready to burst with excitement. Homecoming...

Candlelit dinner...Why Not?

Posted by Aprille on Sunday, March 8, 2009, In : Army Life
I could have named this note a lot of different titles...some of the others I was thinking of were "A Date Alone" and "Life is What You Make It"...but I'm sticking with this one for now.

I pretty much spent all of the day in the house, not because I intentionally wanted to or enjoyed being a hermit, it just happened that way. Lessons in the morning, a phone call to mom, Russ calling, talking with mom again, surfing the web starting to plan our upcoming move, uploading pics to FB, and IMing a...

One Year!

Posted by Aprille on Saturday, March 7, 2009, In : Army Life
I've been a wifey for a year now. Tomorrow is our first anniversary!

It's weird to me...(I know, a strange way to begin a blog post about an anniversary)...but it's true. Because I don't feel like I've been married for a whole year. Russ and I have spent 4 months and 22 days of that year together. I guess it's good in a way because our "newlywed bliss" gets to last longer and start all over again when he comes home.

Sometimes I don't feel married. Sometimes its like I'm living in this foggy dre...

SURPRISES!!!!!!

Posted by Aprille on Sunday, February 15, 2009, In : Family News
I was awake for 20 hours yesterday, so I'm apologizing in advance if this post doesn't make a lot of sense. : )

After working for 8 hours, I flew up here to Chicago. After grabbing my bag and walking to the car, my daddy greeted me with a single yellow rose. He tells me I'm the "yellow rose from Texas." Aww he is a sweetie.

I stumbled into the house and my mom said, "I know you're tired but I have something to show you...upstairs." So we walk upstairs into "my" bedroom, and there is a male figu...

Valentine's Day Emotions

Posted by Aprille on Saturday, February 14, 2009, In : Holidays

Where do I begin? In the last 3 days I've gone from absolutely loving today, to absolutely hating it.

Let me explain...

On Thursday, I went to HEB to grab some groceries really quick for dinner. It was like paradise! Balloons, roses, chocolate, strawberries, and hearts were EVERYWHERE!!! I instantly became a pile of melty mess on the grocery store floor. I picked myself up, grabbed a box of four luscious chocolate-covered strawberries (shocked later at the register to find out that they cost $4...

Home (2) for the Holidays

Posted by on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, In : Holidays
After a long and frustrating day of delayed and changed flights, I finally made it up to Chicago!! It's already been a relaxing and fun time. I was glad to be able to have a nice Christmas dinner with my family. I got to spend a little bit of time with my brother Kurt, and we did all of his presents last night. (He had to head back to Indiana today...)

There's a BUNCH of snow here, and it's calling me to go out and play...so bye!

December 3, 2008

I'm up late, again! Making websites can be so much fun.

I spent Thanksgiving with Russell's family in North Carolina. It was a quick trip that I wish could have lasted longer, but my full-time job kept me from taking any additional time off of work. It was great to make my "debut" into the Donaldson family, getting to meet a few aunts and uncles, and spend some good quality time with Russell's parents and brother.

I'll be spending Christmas here at home, which is sad, but I'm trying to stay re...
